Colour mixing, technique, layering and more. Demonstration, discussion and guidance from full-time artist/ tutor Eion Bryant.
Term Three: Saturday 24 July - 10-4pm

W2: New Zealand Landscape Workshop
with John Horton Fee $75/ Mem$70
Suitable for all levels, oils or acrylics. Ideal Workshop to help students solve colour mixing, tonal control, composition and application problems. All students will leave class with a completed painting. Full colour handouts issued. Brief critique session at conclusion. Hands on tutoring providing personal assistance to help students professionalise their work. Limited Class!
Term Three: Sunday 1 August- 10-4pm

W3: Painting in Acrylic, Oils or Watercolour
with Annette Dickison Fee $75/ Mem $70
In a free and painterly style Annette will demonstrate how to become competent and more contemporary in your approach to painting by first learning some basic traditional rules. From this informative one day course you will go home with a finished painting, clear directional advice, printed fact sheets and inspirational ideas to encourage you in your future work.
Annette is an experienced artist, illustrator and tutor. Her classes are held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All levels of ability welcome.

W4:The Shock of the New in Paint

Using early 20th Century artists as our starting point this fast moving workshop explores how to break a composition down to its essence with a fresh approach to colour and form. Students will be closely guided and we will get results in one day. This is a fun day set to music that will take you beyond your expectations.

W5: Weekend Watercolour Workshop 2 Days!

Paint stroke for stroke with a master of the medium with our popular Otago based Guest Tutor. Learn the tricks and secrets of the professionals. emonstrations and simple guidance will result in you producing two full sheet paintings.

W6: Soft Stone Sculpture
with Gillian Elmslie Fee $125/Mem$115
Soft stone is easy to work with. You will complete a sculpture is one session, carving away at the block as it hardens. First time students and experienced artists find this material liberating as ideas can be visualised and achieved quickly. Suitable for beginners. A material fee of $20 is included in the class fee.

with Lance O’Gorman Fee $85/ Mem $80
Quickly discover the art of impressionism in capturing the land, sea, moods and lifestyle of this great country. Through the style of impressionism you will learn to apply paint, colour and form quickly and spontanenously understanding how freedom and looseness can create dynamic and exciting paintings.
Students will learn to move through one style to another from representative expressionism to abstract impressionism learning the importance of variation in style. The main aim is to enjoy, have fun and learn the art of art.Suitable for beginners to advanced.

W8: TreeHuts & Cubbyholes - 2 Days!
with Chris Mules Fee $125/ Mem $110
This workshop gives students the opportunity to make artwork using ideas and sculptural working techniques from the exciting world of contemporary sculptural practice. Using uncomplicated mold making, plaster and concrete, building and joining techniques participants will work towards a finished sculpture at the end of day two.
If you enjoy making things with your hands, or would like to develop your skills further this is a great way to do it!
You will have 2 days to make forms with an architectural reference and will receive any assistance you require.
Each day’s project will be clearly explained and there will be hands on demonstrations all in a relaxed but informative way.

W13: Glass Fusing for Beginners

This class introduces students to the glass fusing process while they use coloured glass to make a beautiful glass tile. Students are given basic tuition in annealing, compatibility and how to fire a kiln, all of which will give the novice the ability, knowledge and confidence to experiment with these processes on their own.

W18: Intermediate Fusing and Slumping Glass

Building on the skills and knowledge from the beginners class students will be introduced to coloured glass powders and frits as a decorative tool for fusing and slumping. Each student will make several glass objects using these processes. A pre-requisite for this class is ‘Glass Fusing ‘for Beginners’ on Sunday 17 October.
