  • W12: Pastel Portraits Workshop with Maxine Thompson
    Day 1: Introduction: Discussion of portraiture and taking commissions. The observation and drawing skills involved in accurate likeness portraiture. Demonstration of facial features followed by students exercises. How to measure up and draw a portrait with accuracy. Portrait photography and interpreting photographs for art purposes.

    Day 2: Demonstration of drawing up a portrait followed by students working on their own choice of portrait with supervision.

Term Two

  • W12: Oriental Brush Calligraphy with Seung-Ja Yu
    An eye opening challenge to understand the Oriental writing culture, from ancient to modern times. Learn to understand the history of Chinese and Korean characters and and their varying styles of scripts.

  • W13: Fun Acrylics with Lance O'Gorman
    For all stages of experience but moer suitable for beginners to intermediate levels. Class will cover all important basic principles of acrylic application, colour and design. As well as being popular and fun the workshop will develop students own creative powers of imagination. Lots of demos, critiques and discussions.

  • W14: Soft Stone Sculpture with Gillian Elmslie
    This class provides you with the opportunity to experience working with the soft stone medium giving you easy access to working three dimensionally. Guaranteed to be engaging and enjoyable.

  • W15: Making Mosaics with Lindsay Christopherson
    An introduction to mosaics, covering basic and advanced techniques. Students will make and grout 2 pieces over a 5 week course. Tutor Lindsay Christopherson is an artist and mosaic mural designer who has taught mosaics for over 14 years.

  • W16: Wet into Wet Watercolours with Ted Sherwen
    An exciting workshop for both intermediate and advanced students. Explore wet into wet awtercolours with its potential for colour saturation and edge variation. Limited only by your imagination.

  • W17: Weekend Watercolour Workshop - 2 days with Brian Millard
    Paint stroke for stroke with a master of the medium with our popular Otago based guest tutor. Learn the tricks and secrets of the professionals. Demonstrations and simple guidance will result in producing 2 full sheet paintings.

  • W18: NZ Landscape - Acrylic or Oils with John Horton
    This workshop focuses on teaching the skills to complete a full landscape painting in one day. Suitable for all levels tutored in either acrylic or oils. Detailed colour mixing notes provided. Hands on tutor to assist you at each stage. Increase you colour and tonal control and sharpen up your brush techniques. Limited numbers enrol early.

  • W21: Introduction to Body Painting Workshop with Jeanette Farmilo
    This workshop is ideal for anyone wanting to learn basic body painting techniques. You will be taught about materials, brush and sponge techniques, shading and how to paint a believable garment of clothing. Materials supplied. You will need to bring a female model with you. 8 places available.
