Lou is a practicing glass artist. She completed her Degree in Glass at Unitec in 1998, and a post graduate Dip in Teaching at AUT in 2000.She has been glass casting for 10 years, lives in Takapuna and works in a large studio space with 6 other glass artists in Te Atatu Peninsula. She exhibits widely in New Zealand and overseas. Teaching is something Lou enjoys because students bring with them a wide variety of skills and life experiences to the class, and Lou feels that this enhances her own work practice. She also loves to share her knowledge and skills with others, and enjoys getting others excited about glass and the idea that it is a unique material. Glass is not only a beautiful, tactile material but it also plays with transparency and light. The raw material is made here and so there is a wide range of colours available that reflect the New Zealand landscape .
Lou’s class starts in the first term of 2009 - Gorgeous Glass on Wednesday mornings.
