Russell has many years experience teaching art teaching in secondary schools such as Kristin School, Dunstan High School and Aranui High School and was also Head of Art Department. He combines a wealth of knowlege with an ability to connect and relate well to his students.

Teaching Philosophy:
Drawing and painting has always been my great love and my relaxation so my enthusiasm when working with other artists at any level should be catchy. I have aleays said that the best job I ever had was being an art teacher and I have developed a style and approach to which students seem to respond. I like to create a relaxing, interesting and constructive learning environment and atmosphere where artistss/students can work. While structure and direction can be provided for those who seek some structure and/or some direction, this is an environment that enables exploration, challenge and, if necessary, support, coaching and advice. Being in a group of creative people working on their own pieces while being able to interact and share ideas is usually inspiring and informative for all members.
